Due to a glitch with its OnStar system, General Motors has been forced to stop the sale of several models as the American automaker moves quickly to resolve the issue.

60,000 vehicles sitting on dealer lots are impacted, but the issue should be resolved within the next few days according to GM spokesman Alan Adler. Affected models include the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze, Equinox, and Volt, the 2013 Cadillac XTS and ATS models, the Buick Verano, and the GMC Terrain. From the 2012 model year, the Cadillac SRX’s sales have also been halted.

The issue revolves around the OnStar’s crash notification system, which sends an alert to the OnStar call center in accidents that do not trigger an airbag deployment. The glitch however does not affect the crash notification in more severe accidents, and does not prevent the airbags from deploying in the vehicle. Other operations of the OnStar system are also not affected.

Most affected vehicles are able to be fixed thanks to a remote flash done through the OnStar system; but for the vehicles that can’t, dealerships are having to do the update manually. According to GM, no owners have been affected by this software glitch and it was discovered during crash testing by the automaker.
